Royal Thai Embassy in collaboration with the Office of Tourism Authority of Thailand and the Office of Commercial Affairs in Malaysia held an event entitled “Touch & Taste @ Treasures of Thailand” on 26 September 2017 at the Grand Ballroom of Renaissance Hotel Kuala Lumpur. The event is one of many activities held by Royal Thai Embassy this year to mark the commemoration of the 60th Anniversary of Thailand-Malaysia Diplomatic Relations

A day-long event featured Thai traditional performances, exhibitions of Thai arts and crafts especially ‘One Tambon (meaning sub-district) One Product’ from different part of Thailand as well as Thai sweet cooking demonstration. The event is wrapped up with an extravagance Gala Dinner where the acclaimed Thai Chef Chumpol Jangprai presented his colourful creation of a special menu of authentic Thai cuisine. The invited guests were also blessed with luxury fashion show presenting Thai fabrics from all four regions of Thailand.

The honorable guests of this significant event included H.E. Mr. Damrong Kraikruan, Ambassador Extraordinary Plenipotentiary of Thailand to Malaysia, Tunku Naquiyuddin ibni Almarhum Tuanku Ja'afar, Chairman of Olympia Industries Berhad, Tunku Usham Astor, retired banker of Hwang DBS investment Bank Bhd and Miss Thapanee Kiatpaibool, director at Tourism Authority of Thailand.

Ambassador Damrong indicated in his welcome remarks that this year marks a major milestone for all Malaysians as the country is celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Merdeka. Thailand was one of the first countries that recognized the Federation of Malaya, and among the first to establish an embassy in the country. He believes that the bilateral relations between Thailand and Malaysia will continue to be strengthened for many years to come.
