On 2 May 2024, H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, welcomed the Delegation from Malaysia - Thailand Business Council (MTBC), led by MTBC Chairman, Mr. Megat Mizan Nicholas Denny, and National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (NCCIM), led by NCCIM President, Tan Sri Dato’ Soh Thian Lai. Mr. Worawan Wanwil, Minister-Counsellor (Commercial)/Director of International Trade and Promotion (DITP Malaysia), Ms. Orndaporn Pewngern, First Secretary, were also present at the Embassy.

 

Both sides exchanged information and discussed the potential cooperation between Thailand - Malaysia business sector. They also discussed ways to promote Thailand - Malaysia’s two-way trade and investment through connectivity along the border, whereby MSMEs and SMEs would have an important role to play.

 

The MTBC and its counterpart the Thailand - Malaysia Business Council (TMBC) were established in 2013, with support from the Governments of Thailand and Malaysia, to promote both sides’ private sector cooperation and partnerships enhancing business, trade and investment activity between the two countries. The MTBC is under the purview of NCCIM since 2023.
