On 12 August 2025, H.E Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, was invited to the opening ceremony of the ASEAN Sustainable Urbanisation Forum (ASUF) 2025, the ASEAN Governors and Mayors Forum (AGMF) 2025, and the Meeting of Governors and Mayors of ASEAN Capitals (MGMAC) 2025, organised by the Ministry of Housing and Local Government of Malaysia during 12 - 14 August 2025 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), Kuala Lumpur.

 

The Forum was presided over by YAB Dato' Sri Haji Fadillah bin Haji Yusof, Deputy Prime Minister II of Malaysia. YB Tuan Nga Kor Ming, Minister of Housing and Local Government of Malaysia, delivered the Ministerial Address and presented the “Kuala Lumpur Sustainable Declaration on Localising ASEAN Community Vision 2045,” which will be submitted at the 47th ASEAN Summit in October 2025.

 

The Ambassador met with the Thai delegation led by Mr. Pornprom Vikitsreth, Advisor to the Governor of Bangkok (Environment Affairs), as well as Mr. Vijavat Isarabhakdi, the Eminent Person of Thailand for the High-Level Task Force-ASEAN Community's Post-2025 Vision (HLTF- ACV), Mr. Paitoon Mahachuenjai, Deputy Governor of Nong Khai Province, representatives from Chiang Mai Municipality, Hat Yai Municipality, Nakhon Si Thammarat Municipality, and Prik Sub-district Municipality, Songkhla Province, who participated constructively in the forum. The Thai delegation actively shared Thailand’s experiences, including smart city development, environmental and sustainable urban development, and the management of particulate matter and pollution, etc.

 

On this occasion, Mr. Vijavat Isarabhakdi was also invited as a panelist in the session “Charting the Local Path to ASEAN 2045: Advancing Regional Visions through Local Action” in ASUF 2025.
