On 18 September 2025, H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, was invited to the opening ceremony of the Smart City Expo Kuala Lumpur 2025, organised by the Ministry of Digital of Malaysia during 17 - 19 September 2025 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), Kuala Lumpur. YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia, officiated the event and delivered a Visionary Address. YB Tuan Gobind Singh Deo, Minister of Digital of Malaysia, delivered a Welcome Remarks.
 
In his address, the Prime Minister of Malaysia reaffirmed Malaysia’s commitment to becoming a leader in the digital and artificial intelligence (AI) as well as promoting the transformation of cities into Smart Cities or AI Cities. The Prime Minister highlighted that these efforts aim to improve quality of life, reduce living costs, and expand opportunities for every single citizen to benefit from technology in line with the principles of inclusivity and sustainability.
 
On this occasion, the Ambassador met with the Thai delegation led by Dr. Kanop Ketchart, Mayor of Nakhon Si Thammarat, Mr. Teerapat Pornnuchatip, Deputy Mayor of Pattani, and Ms. Nichapa Amphiar, Smart City Digital Innovation Officer, Phitsanulok Municipality. Notably, Phitsanulok Municipality was recognized as one of the top three cities in the AI Cities Pitch Lab for its presentation of the Smart e-Shuttle Bus Project.
