On 12 January 2026, H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, together with senior Malaysian officials and ambassadors accredited to Malaysia, was invited to witness and conveyed congratulations at the Opening of the Legal Year 2026 of the Federal Court of Malaysia at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), Kuala Lumpur. The ceremony was presided over by Datuk Seri Utama Wan Ahmad Farid bin Wan Salleh, Chief Justice of Malaysia, who delivered remarks alongside Dato' Mohd Dusuki bin Mokhtar, Attorney General of Malaysia, and Dato' Mohamad Ezri bin Abdul Wahab, President of the Malaysian Bar, representing the Sabah Law Society and the Advocates Association of Sarawak.

The Ambassador’s participation in the ceremony was an opportunity to follow the achievements and developments in Malaysia's judicial sector in 2025, as well as to learn about the vision, plans, and objectives of the legal community for 2026, which emphasized the rule of law, judicial impartiality, and judicial independence to strengthen public confidence and sustainable justice in Malaysian society.

Notably, the presentation on judicial achievements in 2025 included reports related to Thailand, such as the courtesy call by Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, along with the Ambassador, on Attorney General of Malaysia at the Attorney General's Chambers in Putrajaya on 25 February 2025, and the participation of Chief Justice of Malaysia in the Board of Members Meeting of the Association of Asian Constitutional Courts and Equivalent Institutions (AACC), hosted by Thailand via online platform on 24 June 2025. These activities reflect the close cooperation between the two countries in justice and legal matters at the regional level.
