Ambassador attends 104th Immigration Day Celebration 2026

On 21 July 2026, H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, was invited to attend the 104th Immigration Day Celebration 2026, organised by Immigration Department of Malaysia at Cyber Event Hall, Cyberjaya. The keynote session was presided over by YAB Dato’ Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid bin Hamidi, Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia. YB Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution bin Ismail, Minister of Home Affairs, delivered the welcoming remarks. The event was attended by more than 300 participants, including ambassadors and members of the foreign diplomatic corps in Malaysia, representatives from Malaysian government agencies, and other stakeholders.

In his keynote address, the Deputy Prime Minister reiterated Malaysian Immigration Department’s position to become more than just a border guardian, but as a strategic entity to support the nation’s growth while maintaining national security and enhancing service through the use of technology.

The Minister of Home Affairs of Malaysia also announced the Refugee Documentation Registration Programme (DPP), an initiative to establish a comprehensive and accurate database, including biometric records of refugees. The programme is intended to strengthen refugee management, support evidence-based policymaking, and improve the effectiveness of national security measures.

On this occasion, the Ambassador jointly congratulated with Datuk Dr. Awang Alik bin Jeman, Secretary General of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Dato’ Zakaria bin Shaaban, Director General of Immigration Department and also met with the Deputy Prime Minister, the Minister of Home Affairs, Dato’ Sri Haji Mohd Khalid bin Haji Ismail, Inspector-General of Royal Malaysia Police (RMP), Dato' Haji Abdul Halim bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Deputy Secretary General (Security) at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Dato’ Haji Amran bin Haji Ahmad, Director-General of the Royal Malaysian Customs Department, Dato’ Haji Abdul Aziz bin Abdul Razak, Commissioner General of the Malaysian Prisons Department, and Mohd Ridzzuan bin Mohd Zain, Director of the Kedah State Immigration Department.

The event also served as a key opportunity for the official launch of the JIM Strategic Plan 2026-2030. This plan aligns with the Malaysian Ministry of Home Affairs Strategic Plan 2026-2030 and the national-level Public Sector Digitalization Plan (RPSA) 2026-2030 under the theme “Shaping the New Face of Immigration.”
