Ambassador congratulated Malaysia Airlines on its inaugural flight Kuala Lumpur-Chiang Mai

On 15 August 2024, H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, was invited to the send-off event for the Malaysia Airlines’ inaugural flight from Kuala Lumpur to Chiang Mai, whereby senior management of the Airlines, led by Mr. Ahmad Luqman B. Mohd Azmi, CEO, welcomed at the KLIA Terminal 1. Representatives from Tourist Authority of Thailand (TAT), Malaysia Office, Mrs. Sirinthara Surakanitaya, Director, and from Tourism Malaysia as well as Mr. Darren Chen, chef and owner of the Michelin Guide Thai restaurant, Gai, were also present.
 
Ambassador Lada congratulated the Malaysia Airlines on the launch of its latest route to Thailand and expressed the Embassy’s readiness to continue to promote tourism connectivity and strengthen people-to-people ties between Thailand and Malaysia.
In this regard, TAT Malaysia Office jointly organised Chiang Mai tourism promotion activities in the province for Malaysian and international media and influencers boarding the newly launched flight. Mr. Darren Chen was also invited to demonstrate Thai cooking class, including authentic northern Thailand-styled Khao-Soi, especially Khao-Soi halal, and black glutinous rice with longan, Thai season fruits at the moment, for the group during their stay.
 
Currently, there are 296 return flights/weekly being operated between Thailand and Malaysia. Malaysia Airlines’ route Kuala Lumpur-Chiang Mai will start its daily operation from November 2024 onwards.
