On 25 April 2025, H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia and ALC (ASEAN Ladies’ Circle) Patron of Thailand, joined members from ALC Indonesia, ALC Malaysia, ALC Philippines, ALC Thailand, and ALC Vietnam in the “ALC Charity” event at Rumah Seri Kenangan Cheras (RSK Cheras). The visit was led by Datin Paduka Azizan Siti Hajjar Adnin, Deputy Secretary General (Management Services), Ministry of Foreign Affairs Malaysia and Alternate Patron of ALC Malaysia, along with H.E. Ms. Maria Angela A. Ponce, Ambassador of the Philippines and President of ALC for the term 2025 - 2026.

The program included signing the guest book, a briefing on the RSK Cheras’s mission, a visit with elderly residents, and support for products crafted by the elderly. ALC Kuala Lumpur presented a donation of RM 5,000 to Dato’ Sri Zulkeflee Hazeh, Chairman of the Board of Visitors of RSK, and contributed food products sponsored by Mamee, a Malaysian food company, to the RSK Cheras.

This charity event is one of the initiatives launched during Ambassador Lada’s tenure as ALC President for the term 2024 - 2025, with an aim to promote the role of ambassadors’ spouses and ASEAN lady diplomats in social development efforts in Malaysia and in strengthening partnerships with institutions caring for vulnerable communities.

Established in 1965 under Malaysia’s Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development, the RSK Cheras is able to accommodate approximately 390 elderly residents. Currently, the centre houses 197 individuals and is planning to further develop facilities for elderly persons with disabilities and to expand cooperation with elderly care institutions abroad.
