On 12 September 2024, H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, was invited to the Opening Ceremony of the 4th Selangor Aviation Show (SAS 2024), taking place during 12-14 September 2024, at the Skypark Regional Aviation Centre (Skypark RAC), organized by Invest Selangor under Selangor state government. The opening ceremony, which was presided over by Duli Yang Teramat Mulia Raja Muda Selangor, Crown Prince of Selangor, was well-attended by over 300 participants, including representatives of diplomatic missions in Malaysia, government and private sector, and local and international media.

 

YB Ng Sze Han, Exco for Investment, Trade and Mobility of Selangor, underlined the objective of the event to foster high-profile networking and promote regional investment opportunities among key players in the commercial aviation industry, as well as strengthen the role of Selangor as the sole organizer of a commercial aviation show in the region. Currently, Selangor has become the center of over 60% of Malaysia’s aviation sector and a leading hub for the commercial aviation industry in the region, notably in drone technology and search and rescue operations. In addition, the Selangor Darul Ehsan Aerospace Industry Coordination Office (S-DAICO) was established to align the state’s aerospace development with the Selangor Aerospace Action Plan 2020-2030.

 

YAB Dato’ Seri Amirudin bin Shari, Chief Minister of Selangor, highlighted Selangor's significant contribution to Malaysia’s GDP, which accounts for more than 25%, and its ongoing efforts in advancing sustainable green aviation industry and aerospace development. These initiatives aim to position Selangor as the premier investment destination for the aviation and aerospace sectors. The Chief Minister also stressed the importance given by the State on education, job creation, and empowerment of women in the aviation industry. SAS 2024 serves as a vital platform for experts and decision-makers to connect and explore investment opportunities, thus building a comprehensive aviation industry ecosystem in Selangor.

 

After the opening ceremony, Ambassador Lada, along with other distinguished guests, toured the exhibition booths by various aviation companies, including displays of aircraft and helicopters, among others. Over 40,000 attendees have registered to participate in SAS 2024.
