the Opening Ceremony of the “64th International Al-Quran Recital and Memorisation Assembly” at World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur. The event is organised by the Government of Malaysia during 5 – 12 October 2024, whereby YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia, presided over the Opening Ceremony, along with senior officials from the Malaysian government, Ambassadors and representatives of diplomatic missions in Kuala Lumpur, delegates from various countries, as well as over 500 interested attendees.
Prime Minister of Malaysia stressed the importance of unity among the Muslim World as a driving force for the development of sustainable economy, while calling for the need to avoid confusion and division among Islamic countries. In addition, he underlined the Malaysian government’s commitment to fostering understanding and peace between Muslims and non-Muslims in Malaysia, and to empowering over 200,000 tahriz students in Malaysia with technical capabilities.
Ambassador Lada met with a Thai delegation, led by Mr. Abdulfattah Domolo, a representative of the Sheikhul Islam of Thailand, and expressed support for two reciters, Mr. Habkee Kadamung and Ms. Woralada Thavorn, while reaffirming the Royal Thai Embassy’s support in facilitating and promoting activities that strengthen relations between Thailand and Malaysia, including Thailand’s relations with the Muslim World. The Ambassador then observed the recitation, performed by Ms. Waralada Thavorn, who was the second participant to take the stage.
The 64th International Al-Quran Recital and Memorisation Assembly is organised under the theme “Al-Falah: The Catalyst of Malaysia MADANI”, whereby 92 reciters from 71 countries attended. The Thai reciter, Mr. Abdulfattah Domolo, is scheduled to participate in the contest on upcoming 9 October 2024.
