Ambassador supported Thai reciters at the Opening Ceremony of the 65th International Al-Quran Recital and Memorisation Assembly

On 2 August 2025, H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, was invited to the Opening Ceremony of the “65th International Al-Quran Recital and Memorisation Assembly” at World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur. The event is organised by the Government of Malaysia during 2 - 9 August 2025, whereby YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia, presided over the Opening Ceremony, along with senior officials from the Malaysian government, Ambassadors and representatives of diplomatic missions in Kuala Lumpur, delegates from various countries, as well as over 500 interested attendees.
 
Prime Minister Anwar reaffirmed the Madani Government’s commitment to be a leading nation in the propagation of the Holy Quran, Islamic identity and quranic values, while highlighting the importance of modernising Islamic education through the integration of digital technologies and artificial intelligence (AI) across all levels of educational institutions. The Prime Minister also announced the Official Launching of the “Mushaf Ummah Programme”, a collaborative initiative between the Ministry of Finance of Malaysia and the Department of Islamic Development of Malaysia (JAKIM), on 8 August 2025, which aims to disseminate the Holy Quran around the world through official translation into 30 languages.
 
Ambassador Lada met and expressed support for two reciters, Mr. Manatsawee Nakeesuwan and Ms. Najihah Hajicheama, while reaffirming the Royal Thai Embassy’s support in promoting activities that strengthen relations between Thailand and Malaysia, including Thailand’s relations with the Muslim World.
 
The 65th International Al-Quran Recital and Memorisation Assembly is organised under the theme “Developing a MADANI Ummah”, whereby 71 reciters from 49 countries, including Thailand, attended. The Royal Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur would like to forward our heartfelt wishes to both Thai reciters, and wishes to invite those interested to show supports at the competition held at the World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur.
