On 30 May 2026, Her Excellency Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, visited the Baitul Mahabbah Darulaman (BMD) in Alor Setar, Kedah, to meet with and monitor the well-being of 4 Thai boys currently residing at the facility. The Ambassador was warmly received by YBrs. Tuan Mohd Ridzzuan bin Mohd Zain, Director of the Kedah Immigration Department (Jabatan Imigresen Malaysia Negeri Kedah); Ms. Siti Zaharah binti Zakaria, Deputy Director (Management) of the Kedah Immigration Department; Ms. Amnah binti Hassan, Director of the BMD; as well as officials from both the Immigration Department and BMD.

 

During the visit, the Ambassador met with the 4 Thai boys to offer encouragement and support, explain the legal and judicial processes related to their cases, provide updates on plans for their eventual return to Thailand, and inquire about their living conditions and welfare at the Centre, while touring the facilities and services provided to residents of the BMD. On this occasion, the Ambassador presented gifts to the boys as a gesture of care and encouragement, while expressing her appreciation to the Kedah Immigration Department and the BMD for their continued attention to the welfare and well-being of the Thai boys and other residents. The Ambassador commended the close cooperation between the relevant authorities of Thailand and Malaysia in ensuring the protection and welfare of those under their care. The visit was conducted in a warm, friendly, and supportive atmosphere, providing reassurance and encouragement to the 4 Thai boys.

 

On 4 June 2026, the Royal Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur received confirmation that all 4 Thai boys had safely returned to Thailand. The Royal Thai Embassy and the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Malaysia remain committed to carrying out their responsibilities in providing protection, assistance, and welfare support to Thai nationals in Malaysia on a continuous basis.
