On 17 July 2024, H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia welcomed a courtesy call by H.E. Mr. Lisualdo Gaspar, Ambassador of the Republic of Timor-Leste to Malaysia, at the Embassy.

 

The two Ambassadors exchanged views and information on bilateral relations between Timor-Leste – Malaysia, and Thailand – Malaysia, as both sides aim to enhance cooperation with the host country through exchanging of high – level visits and bilateral meetings, as well as sharing information on the Embassies’ mission to protect their nationals residing in Malaysia, and the support for Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship in 2025.

 

Ambassador Lada commended on the excellent outcome of the bilateral meeting between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Timor-Leste during the latter’s official visit to Thailand in June 2024. Ambassador Lisualdo also underlined Thailand’s crucial role as a development partner and in promoting cooperation in various dimensions, while expressing his appreciation that Timor-Leste teachers have been awarded the Princess Maha Chakri Award for their outstanding contribution to education among the ASEAN member states and Timor-Leste.

 

The meeting was cordial, and helped strengthen good relations between the two Ambassadors and embassies. Both sides are committed to forge closer cooperation with the host country, and be at one’s disposal to share thoughts and experiences, while working closely during their tenure in Malaysia.
