On 24 January 2025, H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, welcomed General Direk Bongkarn, Head of the Neighbouring Countries Coordination Center (NCCC) of Army Operations Center and his delegation, at the Royal Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, on the occasion of the delegation’s visit to Malaysia during 23 – 25 January 2025, to attend the Royal Thai Armed Forces Day 2025 Reception at Imperial Lexis Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, whereby Tan Sri Dato' Sri Mohd Asghar Khan Bin Goriman Khan, Chief of the Royal Malaysian Air Force, was invited as the guest of honor. The visit aimed to strengthen the momentum of close military ties between Thailand and neighboring countries, especially Malaysia.
 
The Ambassador and the Head of the NCCC discussed and exchanged information on Thai-Malaysian border security cooperation, recent developments in Malaysia's border management, situation in Thailand's southern border provinces, NCCC’s cooperation with Malaysian counterparts, as well as approaches to strengthen relations between the Thai and Malaysian agencies.
 
The Royal Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur and NCCC will continue to coordinate actively with relevant Malaysian security agencies through the Office of the Army Attaché and the Office of the Police Liaison under Team Thailand in Kuala Lumpur for the benefit of both Thai and Malaysian citizens.
