On 26 June 2024, H.E. Mr. Wanmuhamadnoor Matha, President of the National Assembly and Speaker of the House of Representatives of Thailand, accompanied by H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, and members of the House of Representatives of Thailand, called on YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia, at the Prime Minister’s Office in Putrajaya, followed by a courtesy call on Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution bin Ismail, Minister of Home Affairs of Malaysia at the Parliament of Malaysia. In addition to the discussion on the dynamics of Thailand - Malaysia relations and cooperation between the two Parliaments, other topics of interest were raised by the Thai side, including the facilitation for the issuance of additional work permits for Thai workers in Malaysia, legitimate stay of Thai workers under Malaysian regulations, and the suggestion on opening of more border checkpoints to harness opportunities for trade and economic development along the border, etc.
 
In the evening, the President of the National Assembly and Speaker of the House of Representatives of Thailand hosted a dinner for Thai restaurants’ entrepreneurs and Thai students in Malaysia. H.E. Mrs Lada was invited to deliver a speech, in which she delightedly noted the regular exchange of visits between Thai and Malaysian parliaments, and shared useful information to participants, particularly the consular mission on the protection of Thai nationals in Malaysia, information related to employment of Thai workers in Malaysia, the Embassy’s implementation of projects to support the activities of the Thai Students Association in Malaysia, as well as the role of all parties in coordinating the network among Thais in Malaysia, etc. The dinner was held in a cordial and informal atmosphere with 200 participants, with Ms. Tharinee Limchularat, Minister Counsellor for Labor Affairs and Mr. Azman Taepoh, Counsellor and Head of the Consular section, were also in attendance.
 
The Ambassador, along with Hon. Ms. Young Syefura binti Othman, member of the House of Representatives of Malaysia, sent off the President of the National Assembly and Speaker of the House of Representatives of Thailand, and the Thai parliamentary delegation, on their departure to Thailand, at Kuala Lumpur International Airport on 27 June 2024.
