On 13 November 2024, H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, welcomed Police Colonel Tawee Sodsong, Minister of Justice, on his visit to Malaysia at the invitation of YB Dato' Sri Azalina binti Othman Said, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department of Malaysia (Law and Institutional Reforms), to attend the Kuala Lumpur Forum on International Arbitration 2024: the Future of International Arbitration – Reforms and Innovations, as high-level guest, at Kuala Lumpur Convention Center (KLCC).
On this occasion, the Minister of Justice led the Thai delegation, together with the Ambassador, on a visit to the House of Parliament of Malaysia to pay a courtesy call on Tan Sri Johari bin Abdul, Speaker of the House of Representatives of Malaysia, as well as to observe the ongoing Parliamentary session. Both sides discussed on strengthening parliamentary cooperation such as exchange of visits of the members of Parliaments, sharing of best practices in legislative process. They agreed on the need to encourage the registration of Thai workers to be eligible for workers’ rights in accordance with local laws. The protection of Thai nationals in Malaysia, Malaysia’s role as facilitator of the Peace Dialogue Process, as well as economic development through bilateral cooperation in trade and investment, food security, and energy, in line with the policies of the respective governments, were also discussed during the meeting.
