On 7 August 2025, H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, welcomed H.E. General (Ret.) Nattaphon Narkphanit, Deputy Minister of Defence and Acting Minister of Defence of Thailand, and the Thai delegation on their visit to Malaysia to attend the Extraordinary Cambodia - Thailand General Border Committee (GBC) Meeting.

 

The Ambassador, along with the Defence and Army Attaché; Naval Attaché; Air Attaché; and Minister Counsellor (Police Liaison), as representatives of the Team Thailand in Malaysia, as well as senior officials from the Malaysian Government led by General Tan Sri Hj. Mohd. Nizam bin Hj. Jaffar, Chief of Defence Forces of Malaysia; and Mr. Mohd. Yani bin Daud, Deputy Secretary General (Policy) of the Ministry of Defence of Malaysia, jointly received the Thai delegation at Subang Air Base, Selangor.

 

On this occasion, the Ambassador joined the delegation in paying a courtesy call on YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia, at the Prime Minister’s Office in Putrajaya, prior to attending the Extraordinary GBC Meeting at the Ministry of Defence of Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur. The Meeting was held in a constructive and positive atmosphere, reflecting Thailand’s determination to work with Cambodia in fostering lasting peace, stability, cooperation, and development for the mutual benefit. At noon on the same day, the Ambassador hosted a luncheon in honour of the Acting Minister of Defence of Thailand and the Thai delegation at the Ambassador’s Residence whereby the Acting Minister met with the Team Thailand and the Thai GBC Secretariat who had been working in Kuala Lumpur during 4 – 7 August 2025, while expressing his appreciation to the Thai delegation for their dedicated work, noting its significance as part of Thailand’s national history and agenda. In the evening at Subang Air Base, the Ambassador, together with the Team Thailand in Malaysia and Malaysia’s senior officials, jointly bid farewell to the Acting Minister of Defence of Thailand and the Thai delegation, who departed for Thailand safely.
