On 23 February 2026, H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia welcomed a courtesy call by H.E. Mr. Diego Pelufo Acosta y Lara, Ambassador of Uruguay to Malaysia, on the occasion of his assumption of duty, at the Royal Thai Embassy.

 

Both sides exchanged views on Thailand - Uruguay bilateral relations, including high-level visits and consultations, the promotion of trade and investment, and people-to-people connectivity. They also shared information on Uruguay - Malaysia and Thailand - Malaysia relations. Both Thailand and Uruguay reaffirmed their commitment to proactively strengthening cooperation with the host country, particularly in trade and investment, people-to-people ties, and collaboration in multilateral fora, especially ASEAN and the United Nations.

 

The meeting was constructive and helped strengthen good relations between the two Ambassadors and embassies. Both sides expressed readiness to exchange experiences and to work closely together in a spirit of friendship in Malaysia.
