Ambassador invited to attend the Opening Ceremony of the Energy Transition Conference 2026

On 4 June 2026, Her Excellency Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, was invited to attend the opening ceremony of the Energy Transition Conference 2026 under the theme “Energy & AI: The Synergy for Energy Transition”, organised by the Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), whereby YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia, presided over the Ceremony and deliver a keynote address; Tan Sri Abdul Razak bin Abdul Majid, Chairman of TNB, delivered a welcoming remark; along with members of the Malaysian cabinet, representatives from government agencies and the private sector, members of the diplomatic corps, invited guests, and media representatives, with more than 3,000 participants in attendance.
 
During the event, the Ambassador met with the Prime Minister of Malaysia, members of the Cabinet, as well as senior representatives from Malaysian public and private sectors, while attending the keynote address, in which the Prime Minister highlighted the current global energy landscape amid ongoing geopolitical tensions, and underscored Malaysia’s commitment to advancing national development while ensuring the benefits for the people. The Prime Minister also expressed appreciation to ASEAN Member States for their support of expediting the operationalisation of the ASEAN Power Grid (APG), among others.
 
On the same occasion, the Ambassador had the opportunity to discuss with YB Datuk Seri Haji Mohamad bin Sabu, Minister of Agriculture and Food Security of Malaysia, to follow up on efforts to address issues concerning Malaysia’s import measures on selected fisheries products, including seabass and 5 shrimp species from Thailand. The Ambassador also met with Mr. Khawar Khan, Country Director of B. Grimm Power Public Company Limited (Malaysia), to discuss the company’s investment developments in Malaysia’s energy sector, while reaffirming the Royal Thai Embassy’s commitment to supporting Thai private sector operations in Malaysia and to further strengthening Thailand – Malaysia energy cooperation and long-term energy security.
