On 4 - 6 September 2025, the Royal Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur organized the Malaysian Parliamentarians’ Visit Program 2025, titled “Inclusive Growth and Sustainability: Deepening Thailand–Malaysia Parliamentary Partnership,” whereby H.E Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, accompanied 7 Malaysian delegates, comprising Members of the House of Representatives, senators, and parliamentary officers, led by Hon. Mr. Azli Yusof, Member of the House of Represatatives, who had been nominated by the Parliament of Malaysia.
On 4 September 2025, the delegation paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Dusit Manapan, Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, to discuss ways to enhance bilateral relations, particularly through parliamentary mechanisms. The delegation was also briefed on the overall Thailand–Malaysia relations by Mr. Piyapak Sricharoen, Director-General of the Department of East Asian Affairs. Later, the Ambassador hosted a luncheon in honor of the delegation.
In addition, the Ambassador led the delegation to pay a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Arun Boonchom, the Sheikhul Islam of Thailand, to receive a briefing and exchange views on the history of the Muslim community in Thailand, particularly in Bangkok, as well as the legal roles of the Sheikhul Islam Office and the Central Islamic Council of Thailand in religious affairs and halal certification. The visit helped foster better understanding of Thailand’s multicultural society and highlighted the longstanding people-to-people ties between Thailand and Malaysia, founded on shared religion and culture.
In the evening, the delegation paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Wanmuhamadnoor Matha, President of the National Assembly and Speaker of the House of Representatives, along with members of the Thailand–Malaysia Parliamentary Friendship Group. The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral relations through regular parliamentary exchanges, particularly in light of Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship in 2025 and its upcoming role as host of the 46th ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) General Assembly from 16 to 22 September 2025. The President of the National Assembly commended the Embassy’s initiative in launching the program, describing it as an excellent opportunity to advance inter-parliamentary cooperation. On this occasion, the delegation also toured the Parliament House chamber, followed by a dinner hosted by the President of the National Assembly in their honor.
