On 5 September 2025, H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, led the Malaysian parliamentary delegation on a study visit to the Support Arts and Crafts International Centre of Thailand (Public Organization) (SACIT), in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province.

The delegation was welcomed by Ms. Saengrawee Singhawiboon, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of SACIT, together with officials of the Centre. A briefing was delivered by Mr. Tayud Mongkolrat, Senior Partnership and Foreign Affairs Officer, on the history and establishment of SACICT, its vision to “preserve, create, and promote” Thai arts and crafts, the Centre’s key activities, as well as its online sales platforms.

The delegation showed great interest in exchanging views on approaches to promote and support arts and crafts within the ASEAN region, and in enhancing the quality and standards of handicraft products through the integration of technology, innovation, creativity, and local wisdom to generate added value.

On this occasion, the delegation also toured the “Nawatsilp” exhibition, which showcases innovations in Thai handicrafts, and purchased handicraft products at the SACIT Shop. The visit represented an important opportunity to deepen mutual understanding and linkage between Thailand and Malaysia through the dimension of Thai crafts with international standard. It also highlighted the role of multicultural identity, local innovation, and people’s participation as key drivers of sustainable growth.

On the same day, Mrs. Nittaya Matheewuttikorn, Deputy Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Office, hosted a luncheon in honor of the delegation. Both sides exchanged views on ways to promote Thailand–Malaysia tourism cooperation as a means of strengthening people-to-people relations.
