On 6 September 2025, H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, led the Malaysian parliamentary delegation on a study visit to the Grand Palace and the Queen Sirikit Museum of Textiles.

 

The delegation received a briefing on the history and significance of the Grand Palace and toured the Queen Sirikit Museum of Textiles, which highlights Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother’s contributions to the preservation and development of Thai arts and crafts. The delegation showed particular interest in the role of the Thai monarchy as the unifying institution of the nation and as a driving force behind the country’s development, as well as Thailand’s success in integrating cultural heritage preservation with the creation of added value in the creative economy.

 

The program successfully achieved its objectives of strengthening networks and enhancing understanding between Thai and Malaysian parliamentarians. It provided a platform for the exchange of views on bilateral relations and the pursuit of cooperation under ASEAN and ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) frameworks. The delegation expressed appreciation for the Embassy’s initiative in organizing the program, describing it as an invaluable opportunity to gain a deeper and more holistic understanding of Thailand through study visits in both Bangkok and Ayutthaya. They highlighted Thailand’s cultural diversity, identity, and local participation as key contributors to sustainable development, and were deeply impressed by the country’s historical legacy and multicultural harmony, which together reflect Thailand’s potential for stable and sustainable development. The Malaysian parliamentarians agreed that the program fostered a more positive and comprehensive understanding of Thailand, thereby laying a strong foundation for advancing Thailand–Malaysia relations and cooperation at all levels.
