Thai Delegation Participates in the ASEAN Law Forum (ALF) 2025

On 21 August 2025, the Royal Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur welcomed the Thai delegation to the ASEAN Law Forum (ALF) 2025, led by Mr. Suriyapong Tubtimtae, Director of the Thailand Arbitration Institute, representing Pol. Col. Tawee Sodsong, Minister of Justice of Thailand. The delegation also included officials from the Foreign Affairs Division, Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice, which serves as Thailand’s national focal point for the ASEAN Law Ministers’ Meeting (ALAWMM) on the occasion of participating in the ALF 2025 under the theme “Enhancing Access to Justice in the ASEAN Economic Community: Bridging Legal Cooperation for Inclusive Growth”, held during 19 - 21 August 2025 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Malaysia. The Royal Thai Embassy has continued to support the Ministry of Justice in strengthening Thailand’s image and role in ASEAN’s legal and judicial cooperation.
 
The event featured a keynote address by H.E. Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia, an opening address by H.E. Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, Secretary-General of ASEAN, and welcoming remarks by YB Dato’ Sri Azalina Othman Said, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Institutional Reform). More than 300 participants attended, representing ASEAN Member States, Japan, and international organizations such as UNCITRAL and the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA).
 
On this occasion, the Forum adopted the Joint Statement by ASEAN Law Ministers on International Commercial Arbitration and Mediation Development, reflecting ASEAN’s shared commitment to strengthening linkages between legal systems and advancing economic integration in the region.
