On 13 March 2025, H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, was invited to the Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) Iftar 2025 with Stakeholders, organised by the EMGS under the purview of the Ministry of Higher Education of Malaysia at EQ Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. The event was attended by EMGS executives led by Datuk Ahmad Shalimin Ahmad Shaffie, Chairman of the EMGS Board of Directors and Advisor to the Minister of Higher Education of Malaysia; Mr. Novie Tajuddin, EMGS Chief Executive Officer; YBhg. Datin Noorazah binti Omar, Undersecretary, International Relations Division of the Ministry of Higher Education of Malaysia; along with foreign ambassadors and representatives from foreign embassies in Malaysia, representatives from the Ministry of Higher Education of Malaysia, as well as vice chancellors and representatives from higher education institutions in Malaysia.
The Ambassador discussed and exchanged views with EMGS executives regarding supports for international students in Malaysia, while expressing gratitude to EMGS for its support of Thai students in Malaysia, particularly in facilitating the application and visa processes for studying in Malaysia. The Ambassador also informed of the establishment of the “Centre for Thai Students in Malaysia (
#CTSM)” under the Embassy’s responsibility to provide guidance on education and career opportunities, as well as support Thai students’ welfare, while seeking continuous support from the EMGS on the Centre’s development of a database of Thai students in Malaysia.
During the opening ceremony, Mr. Novie Tajuddin, EMGS Chief Executive Officer, expressed gratitude to partners from the public and private sectors, especially the Ministry of Higher Education of Malaysia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, embassies, and higher education institutions, for their cooperation in developing policies and systems that benefit the education sector. He also expressed commitment to working with embassies to promote the welfare and safety of international students in Malaysia.
Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) is an organisation under the purview of the Ministry of Higher Education of Malaysia, serving as a one-stop-service centre to facilitate international students on the course application, visa issuance, and information on higher education in Malaysia, with the goal of making Malaysia the preferred education destination among international students around the world.
