The Royal Thai Embassy Welcomed a Faculty Member and Graduate Students from the Faculty of Political Science, Chulalongkorn University

On 2 February 2026, H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, welcomed a delegation of a faculty member and graduate students from the Master’s Programme in International Relations, Faculty of Political Science, Chulalongkorn University. The delegation was led by Assistant Professor Dr. Sorasich Swangsilp, Assistant Dean for International Affairs.
 
The delegation paid a courtesy call on the Ambassador and attended a briefing on “Thailand–Malaysia Relations: Opportunities and Challenges in a World of Competition and Conflict, and Malaysia’s Role in Strengthening ASEAN” at the Royal Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur. The visit took place as part of the delegation’s study visit to Malaysia from 31 January to 3 February 2026.
 
During the session, the Ambassador and embassy officials provided an overview of Thailand–Malaysia relations and Thailand’s proactive and multi-dimensional foreign policy across political, security, economic, development, and people-to-people dimensions, with an emphasis on tangible outcomes. Both sides also discussed Malaysia’s role as ASEAN Chair in 2025. The delegation shared perspectives and observations from their study visit and engaged in active and constructive discussions on various issues, including the leadership of Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Thailand–Malaysia relations amid global geopolitical uncertainty, the promotion of a multicultural society, and cooperation in the field of tourism, among others.
