เมื่อวันที่ ๗ กรกฎาคม ๒๕๕๗ นายกฤต ไกรจิตติ เอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงกัวลาลัมเปอร์ ได้ให้การต้อนรับนายริชาร์ด โทวล์ ผู้แทนข้าหลวงใหญ่ผู้ลี้ภัยแห่งสหประชาชาติประจำมาเลเซีย ซึ่งเข้าเยี่ยมคารวะที่สถานเอกอัครราชทูต โดยนายโทวล์ได้กล่าวชื่นชมประเทศไทยที่ได้มีบทบาทที่สำคัญในด้านการให้ความช่วยเหลือผู้ลี้ภัยและผู้หนีภัยการสู้รบจากประเทศเพื่อนบ้านมาอย่างต่อเนื่องเป็นเวลานาน และทั้งสองฝ่ายได้หารือกันเกี่ยวกับแนวทางความร่วมมือเพื่อให้ประชาคมระหว่างประเทศสามารถให้ความช่วยเหลือกลุ่มบุคคลในความห่วงใยพร้อมทั้งการลดปัจจัยดึงดูดสำหรับผู้หลบหนีเข้าเมืองด้วยเหตุผลอื่น ๆ อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพ

 

On 7 July 2014, H.E. Mr. Krit Kraichitti, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, received a courtesy call from Mr. Richard Towle, Representative in Malaysia for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. On this occasion, the UNHCR Representative acknowledged the role Thailand has played in accommodating refugees and displaced persons from neighbouring countries for nearly half a century, and both sides also discussed ways in which the international community could accommodate appropriate assistance to relevant persons of concerns while reducing the pulling factors that might attract those who may not need assistance to migrate irregularly.
