The Launch of the “Friends of Thailand Circle” talks
 

6 March 2019, Thai Residence in KL – Ambassador Narong Sasitorn hosted an event that launched a series of talks which the Royal Thai Embassy planned to host this year in conjunction with Thailand’s ASEAN Chairmanship.  The first talk entitled “Friends of Thailand Circle: Navigating ASEAN in a Turbulent World” had as special guest speakers Tan Sri Dato' Dr. Mohd Munir Abdul Majid, Chairman of ASEAN Business Advisory Council Malaysia and member of the Economic Action Council (EAC); and H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, former Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Thailand and ASEAN SOM Leader.

Seventy participants including members of the diplomatic corps, business, media and academic communities in Malaysia attended the event and had an interactive session with the guest speakers.  Views were exchanged on how ASEAN could build on its past successes and move forward against the backdrop of the ever-changing regional and international geopolitical landscape.
