On 31 July 2019, General Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister of the Kingdom Thailand, made a statement at the Opening Ceremony of the 52nd ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting and Related Meetings to welcome the Foreign Ministers, delegates, and their spouses to Bangkok, the birthplace of ASEAN. The Prime Minister welcomed a number of concrete outcomes ASEAN has produced during the first six months of Thailand’s ASEAN Chairmanship such as the creation of a people-centered ASEAN, a community that leaves no one behind and looks to the future as well as the adoption of the ASEAN Leaders’ Vision Statement on Partnership for Sustainability, the upgrading of the ASEAN Center of Military Medicine in Chainat Province, and the adoption of the Bangkok Declaration on Combating Marine Debris in the ASEAN Region. General Prayut also stressed the need to strengthen cooperation with ASEAN’s Dialogue Partners while welcoming cooperation with new partners.
