Ambassador and the delegation meeting with Thai authorities of Narathiwat province and site visit to Thailand - Malaysia (Kelantan state) border

During a working visit to Kelantan state, Malaysia on 5 - 6 February 2024, H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, together with Mr. Phasit Chudabuddhi, Consul-General in Kota Bharu, Mr. Worawan Wanwil, Minister-Counsellor (Commercial Affairs), and Mr. Chatchawan Worrakajohnwirat, Minister-Counsellor (Security Affairs) and officials from the Embassy and the Consulate-General in Kota Bharu delegation met with Thai authorities of Narathiwat province and took a site visit to Thailand (Narathiwat province) - Malaysia (Kelantan state) border.
 
On 5 February 2024, Ambassador Lada discussed with Mr. Sitthichai Swadsaen, deputy governor of Narathiwat province and the representatives from relevant Thai authorities. She was briefed on Thailand - Malaysia border management, covering the areas of security, economy, border trade, tourism, transport as well as social and cultural aspect, at Sungai Kolok district office.
 
Ambassador Lada and the delegation exchanged information on the good progress of construction of the key infrastructure project aimed at enhancing Thailand - Malaysia border’s connectivity; namely, the second bridge linking Sungai Kolok - Rantau Panjang border checkpoint across the Kolok River. They also discussed the potential areas of cooperation between Thailand - Kelantan state, including security, border trade, agriculture and tourism, among others, which are expected to further promote and increase both sides’ mutual benefit.
 
In this regard, Ambassador Lada and the delegation also took a site visit to Thailand - Malaysia border at Takbai - Pengkalan Kubor border checkpoint as well as the maritime border along the Kolok River, Sungai Kolok - Rantau Panjang border checkpoint, and Buketa - Bukit Bunga border checkpoint, whereby Takbai district, Sungai Kolok district, and Waeng district are the three main border checkpoints along Thailand (Narathiwat province) - Malaysia (Kelantan state) border.
 
The working visit was successful in acquiring invaluable information from the concerned Thai authorities of Narathiwat province for the delegation’s further discussions with the Kelantan state’s Chief Minister and Malaysian authorities for the benefits of Thailand and Thai people.
