Ambassador attended a meeting of the Special Select Committee on International Relations and International Trade, Parliament of Malaysia

On 13 February 2025, H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, was invited to attend a meeting of the Special Select Committee on International Relations and International Trade at the Parliament of Malaysia. The Committee consisted of Hon. Mr. Wong Chen, Chairperson and Member of Parliament for Subang, Hon. Mr. Chong Zhemin, Member of Parliament for Kampar, and Hon. Dato’ Haji Mohd Suhaimi bin Haji Abdullah, Member of Parliament for Langkawi, along with representatives from Malaysia’s Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry, Ministry of Economy, and Ministry of Foreign Affairs. ASEAN member countries’ ambassadors who were also invited included the ambassadors of Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, the Philippines, and Vietnam, while Brunei was represented by a Chargé d’Affaires, and Singapore by officials.
 
The meeting was organized with the objective of strengthening cooperation between the Malaysian House of Representatives and ASEAN ambassadors. Both sides exchanged information and views on cooperation issues within the ASEAN framework, such as environment and climate change, promotion of cooperation on carbon markets and carbon credits, as well as enhancing relations between parliaments under the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA), etc.
