On 9 January 2025, H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, was invited to attend the Forum Ekonomi Malaysia (Malaysia Economic Forum) 2025, organised by the Government of Malaysia, led by the Ministry of Economy in collaboration with the private sector. During the opening ceremony, YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia, delivered his Keynote Address and YB Tuan Mohd Rafizi bin Ramli, Minister of Economy, delivered his Welcoming Address, whereby the Malaysian Cabinet Ministers and State Chief Ministers along with members of the diplomatic corps in Malaysia were also present.

 

The Malaysian Minister of Economy welcomed the participants and informed of the Forum’s objectives, which were to share Malaysian economy’s direction, policy and priorities during 2025. The Malaysian Prime Minister expressed Malaysia’s readiness for ASEAN Chairmanship 2025, whereby Malaysia wishes to join hands with all ASEAN member countries to strengthen ASEAN. In addition, Malaysia is committed to strengthening the economy, especially in the areas of ASEAN Power Grid, oil and gas industry, semiconductor and Islamic finance, etc.

 

The Forum Ekonomi Malaysia (Malaysia Economic Forum) 2025, themed “Seizing Malaysia’s Moment”, was organised for the first time and expected to be an annual platform for policy discussions, experience and best practices sharing as well as networking for policy makers, industry leaders, investors and academicians, among others.
