On 21 August 2026, H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, was invited to attend the Strategic Planning Meeting with Local and International Collaborators for 2027, organised by the Southeast Asia Regional Centre for Counter-Terrorism (SEARCCT), an agency under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, at the InterContinental Hotel Kuala Lumpur. The Meeting was presided over by Datin Paduka Nur Ashikin Mohd Taib, Director General of SEARCCT, together with members of the diplomatic corps in Malaysia, representatives from international organisations, academia, and the media, totaling over 100 participants.

In her Welcoming Remarks, the Director General of SEARCCT underscored the importance of engaging with local and international partners to identify key strategic priorities, exchange perspectives on evolving trends and developments in terrorism and violent extremism, and explore opportunities to strengthen future collaboration.

On this occasion, Ambassador commended SEARCCT’s important role and exchanged views on ways to promote cooperation with Thailand. She reaffirmed the Royal Thai Embassy’s readiness to facilitate cooperation between SEARCCT and relevant Thai agencies in addressing the evolving forms and challenges of terrorism and violent extremism. The Ambassador also introduced Police Senior Colonel Dr. Kongkrissada Kittithiraphong, Executive Director of the ASEANAPOL Secretariat, with a view to fostering closer connection and cooperation between ASEANAPOL and SEARCCT.
