On 20 April 2025, Her Excellency Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, paid a courtesy call on YAB Dato’ Seri Dr. Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar, Chief Minister (Menteri Besar) of Terrengganu, at the Chief Minister’s Residence in Kuala Terrengganu. Mr. Phasit Chudabuddhi, Consul-General in Kota Bharu, and officials from the Royal Thai Embassy and the Royal Thai Consulate-General also participated in the meeting.
 
The Ambassador expressed her appreciation for the opportunity to call on the Chief Minister during her first visit to Terrengganu and was impressed by the natural beauty of Terrengganu, which has attracted tourists around Malaysia. The Ambassador also exchanged information and views on the development of Thailand - Malaysia relations and views on potential areas for enhancing cooperation between Thailand - Terengganu and Thailand - Malaysia, especially on tourism, culture, infrastructure development, border security, and connectivity along Thailand - Malaysian border, etc.
 
The Ambassador expressed her gratitude to the Chief Minister for the strong cooperation between the Terengganu and the Royal Thai Consulate-General, the jurisdiction of which covers Terengganu and Kelantan, and extended an invitation to attend the Songkran Festival 2025, supported by the Royal Thai Consulate-General to be held on 1 May 2025 at Wat Thep Chantararam - the only Thai temple in Terengganu.
The Chief Minister expressed his warm welcome to the Ambassador and reaffirmed his commitment to advancing cooperation in trade, connectivity, and tourism, including through the exchange of best practices in the tourism industry with Thailand, while also reassuring his readiness to collaborate with the Royal Thai Embassy and the Royal Thai Consulate-General to further strengthen relations between Thailand - Terengganu and overall Malaysia, as well as to continuously ensure the well-being of Thai nationals residing in the area.
 
The discussion took place in a constructive and full of warm friendship atmosphere, contributing to the strengthening of cooperation between both sides.
