On 13 March 2025, H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia was invited to join the launching ceremony of Madani Trade Digital (MTD), an e-commerce platform for Malaysian products, initiated by MATRADE (Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation) under the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), Malaysia. The launch was presided over by YB Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, MITI Minister, whereby MITI management and members of the diplomatic corps in Malaysia were also present.

 

In his Keynote Address, the MITI Minister informed the participants that MDT is driven by latest technologies, enabling Malaysian exporters especially SMEs to have better access to global markets, through virtual product showcase, business meetings and business matching between international buyers and local sellers in Malaysia. This platform also provides training programmes and advisory services for sellers in Malaysia. The MDT is a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) between MATRADE and Nazsoft Tech Sdn Bhd, a software developer.

 

On this occasion, the MITI Minister emphasized Malaysia’s commitment, as part of Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship 2025, in advancing the Priority Economic Deliverables (PEDs), whereby the MDT is among ASEAN’s initiatives to drive ASEAN’s regional digital integration under the ASEAN Digital Economy Framework Agreement (DEFA).
