On 30 June - 1 July 2026, Her Excellency Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, welcomed His Excellency Mr. Suriya Jungrungreangkit, Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, and the Thai delegation during their visit to Malaysia to hold discussions with YB Datuk Seri Haji Mohamad bin Sabu, Minister of Agriculture and Food Security of Malaysia, with a view to further strengthening Thailand - Malaysia cooperation in the areas of fisheries, livestock and agriculture.

 

On 1 July 2026, the Ambassador joined the Minister of Agriculture and Cooperative in a bilateral meeting with the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security of Malaysia, at Wisma Tani, Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security in Putrajaya. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing cooperation in fisheries, livestock and agriculture, with particular emphasis on food safety and food security, as well as sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) measures.

 

The Thai side underscored the importance of expediting the resolution of outstanding agricultural issues between Thailand and Malaysia, particularly the early lifting of Malaysia’s tightened import controls on Thai fisheries products (seabass and five species of shrimp), while highlighting Thailand’s high biosecurity standards in its fisheries and livestock industries, as well as Thailand’s readiness to export shrimp, seabass, pork and beef products to the Malaysian market. Both sides also further agreed to strengthen collaboration in the agriculture and food industries to promote greater mutual benefits for farmers, producers and businesses in both Thailand and Malaysia.
