Ambassador joined to congratulate on the Launch of Malaysia’s first National Defence Industry Policy

On 21 January 2026, H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, was invited to attend the Launch of Malaysia’s first National Defence Industry Policy (DIPN) at Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), Kuala Lumpur, organized by the Ministry of Defence of Malaysia. The event featured welcoming remarks by Dato’ Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, Minister of Defence of Malaysia, officiating and launching address of DIPN delivered by Dato’ Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia.
 
The event was also well-attended by the Cabinet’s members, including Tan Sri Shamsul Azri bin Abu Bakar, Chief Secretary to the Government, Tuan Adly bin Zahari, Deputy Minister of Defence of Malaysia, General Dato’ Azhan bin Md Othman, Chief of Army of Malaysia, as well as foreign ambassadors and representatives from foreign embassies in Malaysia, foreign defence attaché in Malaysia, government officials, private sector, and media totaling more than 1,000 participants.
 
The Prime Minister of Malaysia underscored the importance of the DIPN, which aims to strengthen domestic technological and industrial capabilities, develop supply chains, promote research and development, and enhance national competitiveness and export potential, while upholding transparency to build confidence. He emphasized that security constitutes the foundation of national stability and economic success.
 
On this occasion, the Ambassador conveyed her congratulations to Prime Minister Anwar and engaged in discussions with distinguished participants, including Raja Dato’ Nushirwan bin Zainal Abidin, Secretary-General of the National Security Council of Malaysia, as well as members of the diplomatic corps and foreign representatives.
