On 24 August 2026, H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, paid a courtesy call on Dato’ Syed Mohamad Hasrin Tengku Hussin, Deputy Secretary-General for Bilateral Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, to congratulate him on his new appointment, as well as to extend her congratulations on the occasion of Malaysia’s National Day on 31 August 2026, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, Putrajaya.

Both sides exchanged information and views on Thailand - Malaysia bilateral relations, particularly key developments following the Official Visit to Malaysia by H.E. Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister of Thailand, during 9 - 10 July 2026. The discussion covered political and security cooperation, trade and investment, agricultural cooperation, progress on infrastructure and transport connectivity projects, as well as the situation in Thailand’s Southern Border Provinces, with a view to translating the outcomes of the visit into concrete results as both countries move towards the 70th anniversary of Thailand - Malaysia diplomatic relations in 2027.

The discussion was conducted in a cordial atmosphere, with both sides reaffirming their readiness to work closely together to strengthen Thailand - Malaysia cooperation in all dimensions, as well as the cordial relations between the Royal Thai Embassy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, with a view to further strengthening and enhancing bilateral relations for the mutual benefit of the peoples of both countries.
