On 4 March 2025, H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia welcomed a courtesy call by H.E. Mr. Netra Prasad Timsina, Ambassador of Nepal to Malaysia, at the Royal Thai Embassy.

 

Both Ambassadors exchanged information on Thailand - Nepal bilateral relations such as high-level visits, people-to-people relations through educational and tourism cooperation, as well as cooperation under the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC), for which Thailand will host the 6th BIMSTEC Summit on 2 - 4 April 2025 in Bangkok. Thailand, as the BIMSTEC Chair for the 2022 - 2025 term, emphasizes on enhancing economic cooperation and regional connectivity, serving as a bridge linking South Asia and Southeast Asia.

 

The two Ambassadors also exchanged views on Nepal - Malaysia and Thailand - Malaysia bilateral relations, in which both Thailand and Nepal are committed to forge constructive cooperation with the host country in the areas, such as trade and investment, people-to-people connectivity, and protection of foreign workers’ rights in Malaysia.

 

The meeting was cordial and helped strengthen good relations between the two Ambassadors and embassies. Both sides are committed to forge closer cooperation with the host country, and be at one's disposal to share thoughts and experiences, while working closely during their tenure in Malaysia.
