On 10 June 2026, H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia welcomed a courtesy call by H.E. Mr. Dharshana M. Perera, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Malaysia, on the occasion of his assumption of duty, at the Royal Thai Embassy.
Both sides exchanged views on Thailand–Sri Lanka bilateral relations, including high-level engagements, the promotion of trade and investment, tourism, and people-to-people connectivity. They also exchanged information on Sri Lanka–Malaysia and Thailand–Malaysia relations. Both Thailand and Sri Lanka reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening close cooperation with the host country in areas such as trade and investment, energy and food security, the role of the private sector, and the protection of foreign workers’ rights in Malaysia. The two sides also discussed the importance Thailand attaches to cooperation in multilateral fora, particularly under the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) and the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC).
The meeting was constructive and helped strengthen good relations between the two Ambassadors and embassies. Both sides expressed readiness to exchange experiences and to work closely together in a spirit of friendship in Malaysia.
