On 25 April 2026, the Legal and Consular Sections of the Royal Thai Embassy organized the 4th Legal Consultation Programme for Thais in Malaysia and the 3rd Mobile Consular Services for Fiscal Year 2026 at Weil Hotel in Ipoh, Perak. The programme was attended by Thai volunteers and members of the Thai community in Ipoh and nearby areas. More than 40 Thai nationals received consular services, including passport services, national identity card services, and civil registration consultations, and participated in a legal training session.

On this occasion, the Embassy delegation, led by Mr. Peerapat Tongrod, Counsellor, together with Ms. Yoges M. Verasuntharam, the programme’s legal adviser, conducted a legal training session for Thai volunteers and Thai nationals. The session covered family law, immigration law, drug-related laws, legal clinic services, and practical guidelines for assisting Thai nationals in need. The initiative aimed to equip Thai volunteers and the wider Thai community with essential legal knowledge, enabling them to live and work in Malaysia lawfully, safely, and securely.

On 24 April 2026, the Embassy delegation also visited Thai inmates at Tapah Prison, Perak, and enquired about the inmates’ general living conditions, health, welfare, safety, and communication with their families. The delegation also provided information on legal rights and relevant procedures, and engaged with prison authorities to seek continued support in ensuring appropriate welfare and necessary facilitation for Thai inmates.

In addition, the delegation met with Thai volunteers in Ipoh to exchange updates on the situation of Thai nationals in the area, as well as to hear their challenges, concerns, and recommendations. This engagement aimed to further strengthen Thailand’s efforts to protect and assist its nationals in Malaysia, in line with the Royal Thai Government’s people-centred diplomacy policy, particularly its emphasis on proactive consular diplomacy.
