On 27 May 2026, Her Excellency Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, welcomed participants of the Thailand - Malaysia Business Matching Forum on Energy, led by Ms. Krittiya Petsee, Director of International Affairs Division, Office of the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Energy of Thailand; Assoc. Prof. Wongkot Wongsapai, Head of the ETE : Energy Technology for Environment Research Center of Chiang Mai University; along with 23 representatives from Thailand’s energy sector, including (1) Ministry of Energy, (2) Chiang Mai University, (3) Clean Energy for Peoples Foundation, (4) Renewable Energy Industry Club of the Federation of Thai Industries, (5) Titan Metal Co., Ltd., (6) Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), (7) EGAT International Co., Ltd., [8] PTT Exploration and Production PCL. (PTTEP), (9) UAC Global PCL., and (10) The 8th Floor Co., Ltd., as well as representatives from the PTTEP Malaysia Asset. The delegation visited Malaysia during 27 - 29 May 2026 to participate in the Forum and hold discussions with Malaysian government agencies and energy companies.
 
The Ambassador hosted a networking session and exchanged views with the participants on the development of Thailand - Malaysia relations as well as Malaysia’s economic, trade and investment landscape, especially the country’s energy policy such as the National Energy Policy (NEP), which aims to transform Malaysia into a low-carbon nation by 2040, and the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR), which seek to achieve net-zero GHG emissions through increasing the share of renewable energy in the national power generation mix to 70% by 2050. The Ambassador and participants also exchanged information of Malaysia’s investment promotion policies, as well as opportunities and potential avenues for Thai businesses to invest in Malaysia’s energy sector, which would contribute to strengthening long-term energy security for both Thailand and the wider region.
 
On this occasion, the Ambassador reaffirmed the Royal Thai Embassy’s readiness to support Thai businesses operating in Malaysia and underscored the importance of continued collaboration to further enhance Thailand – Malaysia energy security.
