On 8–9 May 2025, the Royal Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, in collaboration with the Centre for IMT-GT Subregional Cooperation (CIMT) and Mutiara Perlis Sdn Bhd, organised the Economic Forum 2025 under the theme “Towards Seamless Connectivity: A Thailand–Malaysia Dialogue on Economic Integration and Partnerships” in Kuala Lumpur. It consisted of a networking reception and panel discussions.

 

On 8 May 2025, H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, along with a Thai delegation comprising representatives from both the public and private sectors, including the Southern Border Provinces Administrative Centre (SBPAC), the Office of the National Economic and Social Development Council (NESDC), the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT), the Thai Chamber of Commerce, and the Federation of Thai Industries (F.T.I.) participated in the Networking Reception hosted by Mutiara Perlis Sdn Bhd at the Malaysian Petroleum Club, Petronas Twin Towers. The delegation was warmly received by Dato' Shabaruddin Ibrahim, Group Executive Chairman of Mutiara Perlis, and his team.

 

The event aimed to strengthen ties and foster closer collaboration between Thai and Malaysian public and private sector stakeholders with key roles in the development of transport and logistics infrastructure, border area development, and cross-border connectivity between Thailand and Malaysia. These efforts are expected to enhance opportunities for two-way trade and investment cooperation.
