During 30 July – 1 August 2024, the Royal Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur organized the Malaysian Parliamentarians’ Visit: Nurturing Thailand – Malaysia Relations through Malaysian Emerging Leaders, whereby Mrs. Piyapin Niyomrerks, Minister of the Royal Thai Embassy, accompanied 9 Malaysian delegates, comprising parliamentarians and officials, who had been nominated by the House of Representatives of Malaysia. The Malaysian delegation was led by the Honorable Alice Lau Kion Yieng, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives II.
 
During the three-day visit, the delegation paid courtesy calls on respective dignitaries: (1) H.E. Mr. Wanmuhamadnoor Matha, President of the National Assembly and the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Thailand. Members of the Thailand – Malaysia Parliamentary Friendship Group were also present to cordially welcome the delegation. Following an engaging discussion on ways to strengthen the bilateral relations through parliamentary mechanism, the delegation was led on a tour of the Parliament of Thailand. On this occasion, the President of the National Assembly and the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Thailand hosted dinner in honour of the delegation; (2) Mrs. Busadee Santipitaks, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Thailand, gave an overview of Thailand - Malaysia bilateral relations as well as important direction of Thailand’s foreign policy. The delegation also received briefings on “Thailand’s Proactive Economic Diplomacy” by Ms. Salinee Phonprapai, Deputy Director-General of the Department of International Economic Affairs, and on “Thailand - Malaysia Bilateral Relations” by Ms. Chana Sindhvananda, Director of Division I, Department of East Asian Affairs. Both sides extensively exchanged views on ways to promote bilateral cooperation between the two countries while the delegation showed interest in Thailand’s economic and infrastructure developments.
 
On this occasion, the Royal Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur also organized activities to foster better understanding on Thailand’s multicultural society, as well as the history on international relations and the longstanding bonds between the people of two countries, based on the strong foundation of religion and culture. The delegation called on Asst. Dr. Witsarut Lohwithee, Vice President of the Islamic Affairs Committee of Bangkok and the honorary representative of the Sheikhul Islam of Thailand, followed by a briefing on the historical relations between Thailand – Malaysia and its ties to the Muslim community in Thailand by Mr.Samai Charoenchang, President of the Islamic Affairs Committee of Bangkok, Dr. Abdunrohman Mukem, Senior Researcher of South Asian Studies Center, Institute of Asian Studies, Chulalongkorn University, Mr. Sukre Sarem, Independent Researcher, with Dr. Arifeen Yama, Senior Researcher of Muslim Studies Center, Institute of Asian Studies, Chulalongkorn University as moderator of the session at Kamalun Islam Mosque, as well as a visit to Ban Krua Muslim community at the heart of Bangkok.
