On 2 June 2026, the Royal Thai Embassy organised a grant presentation ceremony for Thai community groups in Malaysia that have dedicated themselves to supporting the Embassy’s consular missions for the year 2026, on the auspicious occasion of Her Majesty the Queen’s 4th Cycle Birthday Anniversary 3rd June 2026, at the Ratchaphruek–Bunga Raya Room.

The ceremony was presided over by H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, who presented grants to two Thai community groups, namely the Thai volunteer group in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, in the amount of MYR 1,921.46, and the Thai lecturer group at Universiti Malaya (UM), in the amount of MYR 1,281, respectively.

The Thai volunteer group in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, led by Mrs. Somporn Leong, has played an important role in coordinating emergency assistance, visiting Thai nationals in distress, providing legal guidance, and serving as a key force in supporting Thai religious and cultural activities. These efforts have contributed to fostering unity and morale within the Thai community in Malaysia. Meanwhile, the Thai lecturer group at Universiti Malaya, led by Ms. Benjaphron Onthong, a highly capable lecturer with more than four years of experience in teaching Thai language and culture, has contributed to research on digital Thai language learning and the development of Thai language skills among foreigners in Malaysia. In addition, Ms. Onthong is responsible for administering Thai language classes for the Thai Studies Program under the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) and the Faculty of Languages and Linguistics (FLL) of Universiti Malaya.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Royal Thai Embassy, recognises and attaches great importance to promoting the role of Thai networks overseas. This grant presentation ceremony was organised to provide financial support for Thai community groups that have worked with dedication and selflessness in advancing the Embassy’s consular missions to protect, care for, and assist Thai nationals in Malaysia, as well as to promote the Thai language, arts, and culture, thereby strengthening Thailand’s positive image.
