On 28–29 August 2025, the Royal Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur organized the 4th Legal Consultation Program for Thais in Malaysia and the 4th Mobile Consular Services in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. More than 50 Thai volunteers and Thai nationals
in the state participated in legal consultations, legal training, and consular services.

On 28 August 2025, Mr. Azman Taepoh, Counsellor/ Consul, and his delegation paid a courtesy call on YBhg. Datuk Sh Sitti Saleha @ Sh Saleha binti Yussof, Director of the Sabah Immigration Department, to discuss matters concerning Thai nationals, including loss of passports, unregistered marriages, and the risk of stateless children. Both sides agreed to strengthen cooperation and disseminate accurate legal procedures to ensure the protection of Thai nationals’ rights. In the evening of the same day, the delegation also met with representatives of Thai volunteers to exchange information and explored ways to enhance cooperation in community service.

On 29 August 2025, consular officers provided mobile services including passport issuance, birth registration, and consular consultations. At the same time, the Embassy’s legal officers, together with Ms. Yoges M Verasuntharam, the project’s lawyer, conducted a legal training session for Thai volunteers and Thai nationals.

The training covered family law, immigration law, and key legal matters in Sabah, as well as guidelines on assisting Thai nationals. Participants were also introduced to official information channels such as the Embassy’s and Consular Section’s Facebook pages, and the Thai Consular application, a digital platform offering services including overseas Thai registration, emergency (SOS) notifications, location of nearby embassies, and 24-hour chatbot support, thereby improving access to essential consular services for Thais abroad.
