On January 15, 2026, the Royal Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, represented by Mr. Anan Pikultipsakorn, Minister and Deputy Chief of Mission, attended the launch of Malaysia’s Center for Responsible Technology (CERT), by the invitation of the Institute of Strategic and International Studies (ISIS) Malaysia.
Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, Minister of Communications of Malaysia, presided over the ceremony. In his keynote address, he emphasized the critical need to strike a balance in regulating rapidly evolving technologies. He highlighted that technology must serve as a safe tool for fostering economic opportunity and innovation, while simultaneously managing ethical risks, online safety, and the potential impact on vulnerable groups in society. Datuk Prof. Dr. Mohd Faiz Abdullah, Chairman of ISIS Malaysia, delivered the welcoming remarks. Tan Sri Mohamad Salim bin Fateh Din, Chairman of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), and approximately 200 participants were in attendance, including members of the diplomatic corps, government officials, private sector, academics, and the media.
CERT has been established as an independent research unit under ISIS Malaysia, with the support of the MCMC. Its primary functions include Research & Policy Advisory:Studying the social, ethical, and systemic impacts of emerging technologies, with a specific focus on Artificial Intelligence (AI)and Balanced Development: Supporting the sustainable growth of technology while mitigating risks.
The Royal Thai Embassy has maintained cordial and constructive cooperation with ISIS Malaysia and MCMC, and stands ready to continue working together to further strengthen sustainable and mutually beneficial relations between Thailand and Malaysia.
