On 7 January 2025, H.E. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia was invited to the launching ceremony of the International Regulatory Conference (IRC) 2025, with the theme “Leaping into the Quantum Frontier: Regulation and Innovation in the Tech Era”, organized by the Ministry of Communications of Malaysia, in partnership with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), on 7 - 8 January 2025, at Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur.
YB Fahmi Fadzil, Minister of Communications of Malaysia delivered welcoming remarks, emphasizing on a necessity to set a balance between technology transfer and new opportunities of the digital innovation in the current world with an effective solution for challenges arising from such rapid developments such as cyber security threats, economic crime, online scams, data breachers, etc. In fact, an advancement of interconnectivity, innovation and regulatory wisdom must be in harmony to ensure benefits of economic growth and prosperity, as well as to assure that all population will gain most benefits from relevant technological and digital industries such as healthcare, telecommunications, logistics, money market, sustainable resource management and sustainable energy, etc.
In the context of Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship 2025, Malaysia will work with all ASEAN Member States and their partners to embark on a discussion regarding ethical telecommunication and multimedia governance to leap full benefits of technological advancement for 700 million citizens across ASEAN.
