On 21 July 2025, H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, accepted an invitation to attend the opening ceremony of “The Regional Maritime Capacity Enhancement: Case Studies from Malaysia for Indian Subcontinent, Central Asia and ASEAN Countries”, held at Four Points by Sheraton Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. The event was officiated by YB Datuk Haji Hasbi bin Haji Habibollah, Deputy Minister of Transport of Malaysia. Also in the presence were the Ambassador of Vietnam and the High Commissioner of Maldives to Malaysia, as well as Dato’ Norman binti Osman, Deputy Secretary General (Policy) of the Ministry of Transport of Malaysia.
This programme brought together 29 representatives from 15 countries across Central Asia, South Asia, and ASEAN, including 2 representatives from the Marine Department, Ministry of Transport of Thailand which are Captain Natthanathorn Singtothong, Harbour Master and Ms. Kulrudee Issariyathip, Transport Technical Officer.
Port Klang Authority, with the support of Ministry of Transport of Malaysia, hosted the Regional Maritime Capacity Enhancement as the second time. The programme has taken place from 21 - 25 July 2025, aiming to strengthen regional maritime cooperation and to share practical knowledge to support sustainable global maritime development.
The Thai Ambassador’s participation in the event underscored the support for enhancing regional logistics connectivity between Thailand, Malaysia, and other countries in the region. The event also provided a valuable platform for Thai representatives to exchange knowledge on regional seaport management, thereby contributing to greater operational efficiency and the advancement of concrete collaborative initiatives.
