On 8 January 2025, at the invitation of the Chief Justice of Malaysia Tengku Mainmun binti Tuan Mat, H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia joined foreign ambassadors to Malaysia to witness and congratulate the Federal Court of Malaysia for its successful Opening Legal Year 2025 at Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC), Putrajaya. The Chief Justice chaired the event and delivered her speech along with Mr. Mohamad Ezri b Abdul Wahab, President of the Malaysian Bar, who also represented the Sabah Law Society and Advocates Association of Sarawak, and the Attorney General Dato’ Mohd Dusuki bin Mokhtar.

 

The Ambassador’s participation in this important ceremony was an opportunity to uphold the tradition of respecting the judiciary, rooted in the judicial system of the United Kingdom. The ceremony also served as a platform to showcase achievements and progress in judicial endeavors over the past years, as well as to present vision, plans, and goals of Malaysia’s Legal profession for 2025, which continue to be grounded in the principles of the rule of law, impartiality, and judicial independence, aiming to strengthen public confidence and promote sustainable justice in society.

 

During the presentation of judicial achievements for 2024, reports related to Thailand were well highlighted, such as the Ambassador’s courtesy call on Chief Justice of Malaysia on 14 May 2024, at the Palace of Justice in Putrajaya, and

the Chief Justice of Malaysia’s participation in the 6th Meeting of the Association of Asian Constitutional Courts and Equivalent Institutions (AACC) on 17 - 21 September 2024, in Bangkok. These events reflect the close collaboration between the two countries in the fields of judiciary and regional legal affairs.
