On 29 April 2026, H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, was invited to attend the Opening Ceremony of the new Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Malaysia at Pavilion Embassy, Kuala Lumpur. The ceremony was officiated by H.E. Mr. Juraj Blanár, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, and attended by H.E. Mr. Peter Spišiak, Ambassador of the Slovak Republic to Malaysia, ambassadors and representatives of foreign missions in Malaysia, as well as guests from the Malaysian public and private sectors, totaling over 70 participants.

 

The Ambassador participated in the Slovak Republic’s Flag-Raising and Ribbon-Cutting Ceremonies at the Embassy. On this occasion, the Minister reaffirmed Slovakia’s commitment to enhancing engagement with countries in the Indo-Pacific region, particularly ASEAN, in line with its Indo-Pacific Strategy. The reopening of the Embassy marks Slovakia’s fourth diplomatic mission in ASEAN (following those in Thailand, Vietnam, and Indonesia). Slovakia also places emphasis on promoting trade and investment in areas of mutual interest with Malaysia as the host country.

 

During the event, the Ambassador met with the Minister and conveyed congratulations on this auspicious occasion. She also highlighted the success of the 25th ASEAN-EU Ministerial Meeting in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam, underscoring Thailand’s priorities in advancing multilateral free trade, strengthening energy security, and enhancing ASEAN–EU cooperation as strategic partners to promote multilateralism and a rules-based international order. Cooperation in combating online scams and transnational crime, as well as strengthening people-to-people ties, were also emphasized.

 

Following the Ceremony, Mr. Anan Pikulthipsakorn, Minister and Deputy Chief of Mission, attended the Opening Ceremony of the exhibition “Echoes of Islamic Wisdom,” jointly organized by the Embassy of the Slovak Republic, the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia (IAMM), and the University Library in Bratislava at IAMM, with the Minister also delivering opening remarks.

 

The Royal Thai Embassy extends its sincere congratulations on the opening of the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Malaysia, which represents an important milestone in further strengthening relations in all dimensions between the Slovak Republic and ASEAN countries, including Thailand.
